Climate change and its ecological impacts: BI 130

Biology 130
Climate change and its ecological impacts

In this course for non-majors, we will study ecology on a global scale by investigating the ecological impacts of global climate change. We will begin by studying how the biosphere and atmosphere interact to control the Earth’s climate system. We will then explore how human activities are altering the biosphere, the atmosphere, and ultimately the climate system. Next, we will investigate the likely impacts of climate change on both ‘natural’ and human-dominated ecosystems. We will end by considering the possibility of preventing or mitigating the impacts of climate change.
