N.B. The textbook is an important introduction to key ideas and can serve as a useful reference work.  Remember: it is a textbook and is written as such.  Not all of the topics covered in the text will be covered in the course, and coverage of some issues is simplistic; yet there is value in using it as a starting place and a review tool.  The coursepack readings are more complex and in-depth and require significant attention because often we will discuss their content in class.  The reserve readings are essential to completion of lab exercises.
